about us

We make extraordinary spaces through transformational design.

about us

We believe that architecture should be transformational: in the same way that Alchemy transforms ordinary metals into gold, we do the same with the buildings we design. We take ordinary materials and transform them into extra-ordinary spaces.

We understand that no project is the same, that every project has a different set of requirements, wants and needs. Our job is to help you to achieve your aspirations. However, as architects we are trained to challenge your own understand of what can be achieved to create designs which you may not have considered. Therefore at Alchemic we work closely with our clients to maximise their goals by offering new and exciting ideas allowing you to be a part of the process to craft the space which you will experience. Alchemic Architects are professionally accredited and follow a strict code of ethics set by our professional body the ARB.

You can find out more about our process, the work we do, and how to contact us through the links on our page. We look forward to connecting and creating together to help you realise your plans.

Matt Sawyer - Architect / Founder

Matt Sawyer

Alchemic Founder

Matt is an experienced architect with around 15 years of working in practice. His particular interest is in crafting innovative spaces that enrich the lives of its users and the local communities.

His experience ranges from £10,000 house renovations to £multi-billion infrastructure projects and as such, has a grasp of all project sizes and sectors.

Most recently Matt has self renovated his own house converting and modernising three 18th Century workers cottages into a single property. This not only involved the redesign of the property but he also did 90% of the work including plastering, tiling, joinery, and masonry. This was not only an opportunity to hone his craft but also understand the practicalities that contractors experience on a daily basis. Through this hands on approach he has a far better understanding of what is possible on site and the challenges contractors face which has given him a more realistic understanding of design.
